Every long-term and reliable partnership begins with a first meeting. For Vurruvalve, it’s important that both you and your pet feel safe and comfortable with the sitter. That’s why our cooperation always begins with a Meet & Greet. It’s a moment to talk, ask questions, and (hopefully) build the foundation for a trusting relationship.
Getting to know each other. The purpose of the meeting is to build trust through direct conversation. Ideally, it takes place in the home where your pet will stay during the care period. It’s important that the sitter and your pet meet for the first time in a safe and familiar environment. This creates a shared connection and gives everyone confidence moving forward.
Clarifying the details. During the Meet & Greet, you can show the sitter where food bowls, toys, cleaning supplies, and other everyday essentials are kept. This saves time later and helps the sitter feel confident and well-oriented in your home, ensuring your pet’s routine remains stable.
Questions and answers. We can calmly go through any thoughts or questions you may have—before or during the visit. We talk about your pet’s character, habits, special needs, and your expectations for the sitter. This helps make sure the care experience flows in a way that suits both your family and your pet.
Key handover. The Meet & Greet is also a convenient time to hand over the keys. This way, all preparations are done in advance, keeping the start of the care period smooth and worry-free.
The first Meet & Greet is always free. We want you to feel confident in your choice. After the meeting, both sides can decide not to move forward if it feels like we’re not the perfect match. It’s a fair way to ensure your pet’s well-being and your peace of mind.
In the next post: We’ll share a practical checklist on how to prepare your home and your pet for the upcoming care period.

I have been an animal lover my entire life, with dogs holding a particularly special place in my heart. In 2024, I developed a strong desire to better understand and support dogs. This led me to Nordic Dog Trainers, where I am currently studying dog behavior, body language, and emotional balance under experienced professionals in the field.
Although my studies are still ongoing, I genuinely feel that I can already support both dogs and their caregivers by helping them better understand one another and create a more harmonious everyday life. In my work with dogs, I place great importance on an ethical approach, understanding, and patience.
I decided to become a Vurruvalvur out of a deep love for animals and a desire to help dogs feel as safe and secure as possible, especially in stressful situations. As an added bonus, working as a Vurruvalvur allows me to closely observe and deepen my understanding of canine communication.
I’ve had animals in my life for almost as long as I can remember. As a child, both my sister and I had our own parrot, which was one of my first experiences learning to care for another living being. I truly believe that animals have much to teach us – empathy, patience, and unconditional love. At home, I share my life with my cat Käbi and my dog Pluto, who bring joy and warmth to every day. I’ve also volunteered at an animal shelter, an experience that strengthened my passion for caring for animals and making their lives better.
I joined Vurruvalve because I love helping where I can. While I work as an engineer in my day-to-day life, I enjoy reading, going to the gym, and maintaining a healthy balance between work and personal time.
